Inspired

by Reading Rainbow, my favorite childhood TV show since 1983. This educational classic aired on PBS and sparked imaginations for millions of young minds.

The Iconic Intro

Card Catalogs to AI-Powered Systems

During the ’80s, my main sources of reading recommendations were word of mouth and school assignments. Card catalogs in libraries were basically wooden search engines.

Now it’s 2023 and social media platforms are curating digitized content for me!

My Reading Rainbow Project

Ad delivery systems in social media platforms piqued my interest last year. So much so I started a self-study project and named it My Reading Rainbow.

How do social media platforms leverage AI to promote downloadable content? How do recommendation systems work? Which machine learning models and algorithms are used? What’s the best combination of ad settings and online activities to turn out the highest matches on topics I'm interested in?

These are some questions driving this self-study. I'm in the process of organizing information, but so far, observations across a wide range of topics I'm interested in are intriguing.

Take a look at some of the highest matches.
